So, how’s Christmas shopping coming along? I hope you’ve got your tree up and have bought at least half of your Christmas list of presents so far!
As a continuation of my 5 part series, this post constrains 12 gifts of experiential intimacy ideas to do with your spouse. In the first post I shared 12 ideas to cultivate emotional intimacy.
In this section, these little mini dates are designed to cultivate fun, creativity, and adventure within your relationship. Having activities that foster teamwork, thinking outside the box, and child-like play is imperative to grow and keep intimacy alive.
Here’s the 12 gifts of Experiential Intimacy to share with your partner:
Christmas Scavenger Hunt:
Make a list of 12 Christmas theme outdoor decorations together, grab some hot chocolate and drive around town searching to complete the list.
Holiday Baking Challenge:
Choose a holiday dessert. Choose one partner to be blindfolded. The other partner guides the other, neither person able to speak and create the dessert together. When it’s finished, take off the blindfold, snap a pic of the dessert and eat it together.
Play in the Snow:
Buy a package of fake snow from Amazon, place it in a large flat baking pan, use household items to create a winter scene together.
Nativity Painting:
Read the Christmas story from one of the gospels and then grab some acrylic paints, brushes, and a canvas. Paint a scene of the Nativity together, either realistic or interpretive.
Christmas Bath:
Buy a Christmas scented candle and bath bomb, and take a sensual bath together.
Trip Down Memory Lane:
Go to a thrift store together and without letting each other see, pick out an item that represents something special from your memories in your relationship that costs less than $12 within 20 minutes. Back at home, reveal it to your spouse while sharing spiced hot apple cider.
Christmas Light Walk:
Grab a jacket and wrap your arm around your love. Take a walk in a brightly Christmas decorated neighborhood, eat some Christmas candy while discussing the adventures you did together this past year and ones you’d like to do together in the upcoming year.
Holiday Drink Recipe:
Either use a recipe or create your own holiday drink together (alcohol or nonalcoholic) and watch a new Christmas movie neither of you have seen before.
Christmas Love:
Create a gift bag of Christmas treats, a blanket, personal care items together. Then drive to find a homeless person and together give the gift to the person, talk to them, and pray for them together.
Decorate Gingerbread:
Buy (or make your own) gingerbread and decorate it together.
International Christmas:
Research a Christmas tradition from another country and re-create that tradition together.
Christmas Songwriting:
Use ChatGPT to create a unique funny Christmas song using prompts that include using both of your names, the 12 days of Christmas, and any other prompts you’d like.
Which one is your favorite? Mine is playing in the snow and creating a winter scene… we don’t have snow in Houston so pretending is fun ( ;
Love,
Kristi
