Sex Is Better Than Cake

When I was a little girl, I remember sitting around my grandma's table with my many aunts around me. One of them had made this incredible dessert, and everyone raved at how delicious it was! They laughed and laughed as the aunt who made it called it, "Better Than Sex Cake". I of course had no clue as a little girl what that meant. But I internalized their comments, and it became one of the cultural messages I received around sex growing up.

That message was, sex wasn't that great. Cake is better! Well, sadly, I think there are a lot of jokes about food or other pleasures being better than sex. And to be honest, some may truly think that it is!

Well, certainly sitting down by myself to indulge in a sweet dessert does not take much work. The cake doesn't require anything, I'm just free to enjoy it! (And then pay it on the scale a few days later).

But delectable sex takes work. Much more work than the 30 min of baking the cake.

Can sex be better than cake? You bet. So much better.

Have you ever faked your enjoyment? Do you do it frequently? Maybe fake an orgasm to not hurt your spouse, or pretend it's good when it's not? You don't have to live like that. Sex can be amazingly pleasurable! There are a lot of "ingredients" needed, and the right technique required for it to be amazing.

The first thing needed, is honest communication. Stop pretending. Be real with your partner about your feelings, what you need, what isn't working. Speak to them in an affirming, non-critical way. And it's ok to not have an orgasm. Starting from step one will help eventually to have an actual orgasm!
