We’re closing in on the end of the year. How’s the year been for you? Are you tired, worn out? Do you feel excited for the possibilities of the New Year?

What’s your overall satisfaction level in your marriage? Have you grown closer or further apart this year?

I want you to to take some time this week walking back through this past year. First, do it alone. Ask God to reveal to you how you have shown up for your spouse… how have you built them up, spoke life into them, and cultivated intimacy in your marriage? (Remember, there are 5 levels of intimacy - Emotional, Cognitive, Experiential, Spiritual, and Physical). Take an honest look. Where have you been selfish? Where have you given up? Where have you spoken death instead of life into your marriage, both in your thoughts as well as behaviors?

Write these things down. Ask God to forgive your sin, lack of investment, or critical attitudes.

Next, focus on thinking of how your spouse showed up for you in positive and loving ways over the past year. Make a gratitude list of these things and share them with your spouse. Ask them to forgive you for ways that you fell short this year.

Don’t worry about how they failed you, this is about your own heart with God and with your spouse. Take accountability and thank God that you have made it through the year together with the partner that He has given to you.

Lastly, spend some time together looking through your photos together over the past year. Celebrate what God has done for you together and highlight the special moments, they’ve been a gift!

Love,

Kristi
